Lutein vs Zeaxanthin

Lutein and zeaxanthin are related carotenoids. AREDS2 used them together at a 10 mg to 2 mg dose ratio as a replacement for beta-carotene in the modified formula.

Why this matters for supplement shoppers

An ingredient appearing on a label is only the beginning. Dose, formulation, intended population and the evidence for the finished combination all matter.
